Rocky In Nangijala
Rocky In Nangijala is a toy that speaks directly to the opposing forces, life and death, the real world and those protected from it, the child and the grown ups. Rocky uncovers many things about the world we live in and the unseen that can make everyone a little bit uncomfortable. The designer's goal is to create a space for more profound and possibly more complicated discussions between children and grown ups. We all have questions about the world. Where does death live? Where does he play? Where is peace and where is war? Rocky in Nangijala is a fairytale for children but an old tale for the adults. In this space the world of the children and the adult intertwine and create something more beautiful, human and pure. The two opposites link and realise they are nothing without each other.

This Is Not A Toy!
This Is Not A Toy! is the designer's graduation project from the Icelandic University of the Arts in product design. Toys have a very traditional role, whether ideologically, historically or for economic productivity. Play on the other hand, is unpredictable, open and untamed. In this project, established toys are deconstructed in order to be recreated. The designer hopes to find new meaning in the toys. The toys have a blurry purpose now that their original function has been distorted. This is a certain contradiction to the restrictive roles that can be seen in the world of toys. .

The First Rocking Horse
While studying in Listaháskóli Íslands I did a project about children’s toys. I questioned the meaning behind many historical toys whose idealism have followed us through centuries. What do these toys mean to us and the children’s play? This design was a way to challenge our ideas of children’s play. Playing is in it’s core a complex phenomenon that can be challenged by design, it can evoke discussions and tell a beautiful but haunted story.

This Is Not A Toy!
Toys have a very traditional role, whether ideologically, historically or for economic productivity. Play on the other hand, is unpredictable, open and untamed.
In this project, three established toys are deconstructed in order to be recreated. The designer hopes to find new meaning in the toys which have been charged with too much marketdriven value for decades. The toys have a blurry purpose now that their original function has been distorted. This is a certain contradiction to the restrictive roles that can be seen in the world of toys; The Rocking Horse, The Baby Doll and The Building Blocks. They now place a greater emphasis on imaginative and creative play, both for adults and children.
